NPLQ lifeguard courses
Sandy Balls Leisure Club now offers NPLQ courses to members of the public. The dates of the next course are Monday 12th July – Friday 16th July 2010.
This course will enable candidates to become a lifeguard at any pool in the UK and most of Europe.
About our NPLQ courses:
- NPLQ courses at Sandy Balls are run as an intensive course over a 5 Day period.
- They cost £250 per candidate.
- The price includes all training, a log book and an RLSS information training pack.
- The course will run between 9.00am and 18:00, Monday to Friday.
- The course will be taught by one instructor who is qualified as a pool lifeguard trainer assessors.
- On completion of the NPLQ, candidates gain a qualification which allows them to work as a qualified pool lifeguard at any pool in the UK or most of Europe.
- The qualification is given based on the results of a theory and practical examination which will take place on the final day of the course.
- The qualification lasts for 2 years from the date of the examination and can be renewed after 2 years as long as sufficient training hours have been completed.
What does the course involve?
The course involves candidates being trained in four different elements:
- • Practical: water fitness, rescue tows, casualty handling.
- • CPR: adult, child and baby, choking.
- • First Aid: primary and secondary survey, bandaging, injuries and illnesses.
- • Theory: lifeguards roles and responsibilities, health and safety, safety on poolside.
- . Candidates must be: Aged 16 or over
- • Able to swim at least 200 meters
- • Able to attend all sessions and the final examination
